Auguste Rodin (French, 1840-1917)

EVE

LE PENSEUR
Rodin is considered the father of modern sculpture and is accepted as one of the greatest sculptors of all time. The Robert Bowman Gallery deals extensively in genuine bronze casts of his work; by this we mean bronzes cast under Rodin's direction during his lifetime or under the authority of the Musée Rodin, to whom he left all rights to his work on his death. If a sculpture is not an authorised by either Rodin or the Musée Rodin it is not categorised as an original work of art, but as a reproduction.
To aid the potential purchaser in acquiring Rodin sculpture with confidence, all works offered for sale by the Robert Bowman Gallery have an invoice clearly stating the date of the casting, and whether authorised by Rodin or the Rodin Museum.

THE KISS
As a further independent guarantee all works are offered with a certificate from the Comité Rodin, led by Jerome Le Blay, who is currently compiling the catalogue raisonée.
The Robert Gallery has sold many important works by Rodin, including the 72 cm cast of the Thinker (le Penseur) formerly in the collection of John D. Rockefeller, for over $3 million dollars and a cast of Rodin's Eve for over $2 million dollars.
As well as private sales of important works by Rodin the gallery has also sold Rodin sculpture to Museums, including a lifetime cast of the Kiss to the Frederick Meijer Museum, USA.
We are always interested to hear from anyone who might wish to sell a sculpture by Rodin and are happy to do valuations and either buy sculptures outright or sell on commission.
